Local birds and wildlife watching

We marvel at the sight of the blue tit’s (Cyanistes caeruleus) bright colours,
the red kite’s (Milvus milvus) elegant flight or fill with expectation to discover a black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) after hearing its bill hammering on nearby tree trunks.

Swallows, finches, starlings, vultures or the odd bearded vulture; birds are part of our scenery, between the Cadí-Moixeró and the Pyrenees mountain ranges, and besides de Segre River, because La Cerdanya is an important stopover for migrations.

Bird-watching, is an activity which you should not miss, it will help you understanding the life of those birds living in our surroundings. We have set up some feeding troughs around the house to ensure their feeding during the harshest winters, aside from making their observation easier.

Thanks to the wide variety of sceneries, such as pasture meadows, riverbank forests or high mountain; Cal Calsot is a good place for bird-watching and, if lucky, during night-time some mammals among which foxes, badgers, beech martens; or roe deer.
